The Security World 2015 Conference and Exhibition officially was opened this morning at the Melia Hanoi Hotel, by Nguyen Minh Hong, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications.
The conference is sponsored by the General Department of Security - Department of Public Security, the General Logistics Department of Engineering - Department of Public Security and Emergency Response Centre computer Vietnam (VNCERT) - The Ministry of Information & Communications, IT & Monitoring Center Network Security - Government Cipher Commission in cooperation with International Data Group Vietnam (IDG Vietnam) organisation.
Since its inception in 2007, the National Exhibition of Security has become a major national forum and the most prestigious in Vietnam in the field of information security.
Attendees were welcomed to the conference by Lieutenant General Tran Van Thanh, Deputy General Director of the Security Bureau, the Ministry of Public Security. Lieutenant General Tran Van Thanh emphasized, the safety risk, and the sharp increase in recent years (in both quantity and severity) of information security attacks. As a result there is a very heavy challenge for information technology leaders and those working in information security for the coming period.
According to the Kaspersky Security Bulletin 2014, which reported and 4x increase in the number of users attacked by malware on the Android platform alone in 2014 compared with 2013. In particular, Vietnam ranks 6th in the world with the number of mobile device users suffering malicious code attacks. The risk of loss of information security is alarming when Vietnam has nearly 50% of users infected with malware when using the Internet on a computer. This ranks fourth worldwide.
According to a recent report by the Association of Information Security Vietnam, end users at the majority of agencies and organisations in Vietnam, use personal devices (mobile and tablets) to access the network at work, but 74% of the equipment does not have any information security measures or protections.
Aware of this situation, the theme of the Security World Conference this year is to discuss "Enhancing Security & Information Security risks in the current environment."
In particular the consolidation of information security capabilities of enterprises and organisations, to ensure the safety, security, and application of new technologies, must simultaneously with the proposed measures, reduce the harmful effects of lowering floor information, and promote business growth. However, despite the existence of security threats, the majority of organisations, businesses and individuals have not yet fully implemented the operational security to reduce risk and damage.
Mr.Richard Staynings, who leads Cybersecurity Solutions at Cisco provided the official keynote introducing attendees to the recent and growing threat posed by small Internet connected devices. "The Internet of Everything (IOE) will result in the connection of billions of new devices to the Internet - many of which cannot be secured at all." he stated.
With the participation of over 20 experts and leaders from government agencies and business organisations, this year's conference aims to help businesses and organisations to assess and understand information security risks and threats so as to ensure compliance with security safety regulations. It also aims to showcase possible solutions to help organisations respond in-time to these threats and before they can spread and introduce significant risk to organisations.
The Conference includes a Security Technology Exhibition, which provides solutions, security products for modern network security, security of cloud computing, big data encryption, and virtualization.
Joining the Exhibition this year is the Technology Center, with a consultants sector and leading solutions in the field of information security and risk management. It includes representation from Blancco, Cisco, Samsung, Palo Alto Networks, Trend Micro, Parasoft, Jupiter Networks, HP, and others.
